1. New Podcast Service at CUHK for Academic and Supporting Staff - Calls for Audio/Video Submissions

ITSC will launch a new podcast service in the new semester 2009.  We invite teachers to submit proposals for producing teaching materials in the form of audio or video clips for posting on this new podcast station which will be accessed by visitors from around the world.

A podcast is like an audio/video version of your magazine. And you can take them with you and listen to/watch them whenever you want.


2. New eLearning Courses

ITSC is offering a new series of eLearning courses for staff and students. Check out to learn to use a variety of software at your own pace.

Online training material consists of different elements which include movie, index, item review, pre-test, case study and etc.


3. Decommission of HPC server Orpin (Memory-intensive Computing Server) on 11 Apr 2009

After serving the faculties and postgraduate students of the University since 2002, the HPC server Orpin ceased her service on 11 Apr 2009.

4. Decommission of ClassNet Wi-Fi Service (SSID=classnet) on 1 Aug 2009

The ClassNet Wi-Fi Service (SSID=classnet) in Central Wi-Fi Model will be decommissioned on 1 Aug 2009. Staff and students should shift to use CUHK Wi-Fi Service (SSID=CUHK) when using the free Wi-Fi service on campus.

5. New Computer Reference Tenders for Departmental Purchase

We have selected several computer suppliers to provide High Density Computing Server from the recent tender exercise. Selection criteria were based on price, performance and product quality. There are two major groups of server system adopted by the high density computing environment described in this tender.

6. Prepare for Work-from-home in case of Class Suspension Due to an Epidemic Outbreak

In view of the potential risk of class suspension in the case of an epidemic outbreak, staff members are strongly advised to plan and prepare ahead so that you can continue your work and teaching when the crisis hits.
