Professor CHRISTIANI, who is Wei Lun Visiting Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Professor and Director of Occupational Medicine and Epidemiology Programme at Harvard School of Public Health, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Physician at Massachusetts General Hospital, is internationally recognized as an expert in environmental molecular epidemiology, specifically gene-environment interactions. His talk provided an insight into understanding of interactions between genetic polymorphisms and environmental factors on lung cancer and helped to improve public awareness of the diseases.
During his visit, Professor CHRISTIANI also visited Shenzhen Hospital for the Prevention and Control of Occupational Diseases, as well as the Shenzhen Center for Disease Control and Prevention with Professors from the School of Public Health. Given the close working relationships between the CUHK and the partner institutes in Shenzhen, the school has taken this opportunity to establish and strengthen the cooperative links between the three organizations for further collaborations to develop a three-way working mechanism.
