The Second Network Initiation Meeting with WBI: The Asia Network for Health Policy Capacity Building and Knowledge Exchange

Experts from over ten countries in the Asia-Pacific region came and joined the Second Network Initiation Meeting with representatives from the World Bank Institute (WBI) at the School of Public Health of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 17 -18 April 2009. Dr Maria Luisa ESCABOR, Lead Health Specialist of Human Development Unit from WBI and Professor EK YEOH of the School of Public Health at CUHK were the chairs of this meeting. 

Experts from over ten countries in the Asia-Pacific region came and joined the Second Network Initiation Meeting with representatives from the World Bank Institute.

Given the growing need for new knowledge and knowledge exchange in health systems strengthening in the Asia region, Dr ESCABOR initiated this meeting building upon the brainstorming meeting held at CUHK in April 2008 with regional experts, aiming at strengthening the member institutions' role in empowering national leaders to become agents of change in their respective countries. The Network is committed to working in partnership with the regional experts on capacity building as well as training programme development taking into consideration of customization, prioritization in order to help build the capacity of national institutions to become the centres of excellence in knowledge dissemination, training and policy assistance which in turns serve the needs of the respective countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
